Background memory
Between conversations, your helper tidies its memory on its own. It never messages you, and every note has to match something you actually said.
What runs in the background
| Job | When | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Memory upkeep | About an hour after a conversation in a channel | Adds lasting facts and preferences you stated, and corrections to old ones, to that channel's memory. Things memory already has are skipped. |
| People | About once a day per channel | Updates the Contacts entries of people you talk about: how they're related to you, other names, and facts. A new contact is added only when your own words show who that person is to you, never from a name that just comes up. |
| Nightly note | At night, in your time zone | Writes one pinned note in General's Notebook, "How to work with" you, fresh each night from your recent words (short, and replacing the night before). |
Checked against your words
Each job saves only what it can back with your exact words, and a separate check tries to disprove every item before it's kept. If it can't be backed up, it isn't saved.
Quiet by design
These jobs only change memory. They never message you, never start tasks and never send texts.
Your nightly note is yours to edit
Edit the "How to work with" note and it becomes yours: the nightly run leaves it alone from then on. Delete it and a new one is written the next night. Your helper reads it in every channel.
Where it came from
Ask your helper how it knows something and it shows where it came from, with your words behind it. To have something forgotten for good, say "forget that". See Forgetting something.
