When something happens
Ask your helper to do something each time something happens in one of your apps, like a new email from someone. It runs only then, and stays quiet unless you asked to hear.
Setting one up
Ask in plain words:
When I get an email from Dana, save a two-line summary to my notebook.
When someone posts in #launch on Slack, add it to my list.
Your helper finds the right event in the app, sets any filter (a sender, a channel) and picks the account you mean. If your words and your account notes don't say which account, it asks. It sets one up only when you ask for it.
How it runs
- Each event runs the job once, with the event as its input. What's in the email or post is information, never instructions to your helper.
- It's as quick as the app tells 1Helm. Some apps send the event right away (Slack, Notion, GitHub); others are checked every few minutes (Gmail, Google Calendar).
- Each run has a cap on its steps. A job runs at most 10 times an hour, and at most 3 events wait at once; more than that are skipped.
- It doesn't message you unless you set it up to ("…and text me when it happens").
- Sending or changing something in an app is still an action like any other, and needs your OK on the exact content.
Pause, resume or stop
These jobs are in Scheduled → When something happens, with the event in plain words, the account it watches and how often it ran. Pause and Resume turn the app's event off and on; Stop ends it. You can also just ask your helper. Disconnecting that account stops the job too.
What it costs
Each run is billed like any other work: the AI's work plus computer time, if it needs the computer.
Not every app
Not every app has events. They also aren't available with Self-managed apps. Either way, your helper offers a scheduled check instead ("I'll check every 30 minutes").
