Its computer and the web
Each channel has a private computer with a real web browser. Your helper also searches the web and looks up live prices and availability.
What it can do
Sign in to websites, fill out forms, compare prices, download statements, read PDFs, run small programs and make files like spreadsheets, documents and slides. Files the browser downloads go straight into your Library.
Searching the web
Your helper searches the web in one step and reads the pages it needs. Searches go out from 1Helm's servers, never from your device, to a search engine that keeps no record of searches. Web searches are free; only a backup search, when the usual one is busy, is billed like the AI's work.
Live search
For things that change by the minute, your helper uses live search instead of browsing: flights, hotels, restaurants and places, Amazon, Walmart and other shopping, stocks, maps, Tripadvisor, news, research papers and SEC filings. It also goes straight to built-in sources like weather, SeatGeek events, Yelp, Taskrabbit, Viator, AllTrails, trivago and GoDaddy domain search. Answers come from real data, with a link to check on the site itself, and nothing needs a sign-in. Each live search costs a fraction of a cent. See Apps.
Your apps come first
When you've connected an app for a service, like Google Calendar, your helper uses the app rather than signing in on the website. It won't open that service's sign-in page or hand you the browser to type its password unless you ask for the website. See Connected app first.
Watch it work, or take over
Open the task and tap your helper's computer button at the top to see the browser live. Press Take control to use it yourself, then I'm done, hand back. When a site needs something only you should do, like a texted code, a CAPTCHA or signing in, your helper hands the browser to you and the task shows "Waiting on you in the browser".
Saved logins
Save logins in Settings → Passwords & keys (Add a login, or import a passwords file exported from Chrome). 1Helm types the password into the site's own secure sign-in page. Your helper never sees it, and saved passwords can't be shown again, even to you.
Sleeping
The computer sleeps after about a minute with nothing to do, and wakes in a moment when a task needs it. Its work folder is saved in between. A sleeping computer costs nothing.
What it can't do
- It can't hold a fare, lock a price or reserve stock while you decide. A watch can check again later.
- Sign-ins, CAPTCHAs and bot checks can stop a task. Your helper never solves a CAPTCHA itself; it hands the browser to you.
