Terms of Service
1. Agreement
These terms cover 1Helm, the service where we run a personal AI helper for you (at app.1helm.com and your own 1helm.com address), and this website, 1helm.com. By using either, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use them. The free, self-hosted 1Helm software has its own license (section 18).
2. What 1Helm is
1Helm gives you an AI helper that works for you, with its own computers, its own storage and your own web address. You talk to it in the web app, or by text message if you set that up. It can do real work for you: research, writing, files, web pages, scheduled checks, meeting notes, and tasks in accounts you choose to connect.
3. Your account
You must be at least 18 to use 1Helm. You sign in with a code or a link we email you, so keep your email account secure: anyone who can read your email can sign in as you. Use an email address you actually read, because that's where we send sign-in codes and anything important about your account. An account is for one person; don't sell or share access to it as a service.
4. Plans and payment
1Helm is a monthly subscription. The plans, prices, included usage and storage are shown on our pricing page, during sign-up and in Settings. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
- Each plan includes an amount of usage every month, which covers the AI and computer time your helper uses at what it costs us plus 15%. You can add credits at any time. Your balance never goes below zero: when usage and credits run out, work pauses until your plan renews or you add credits.
- Included usage doesn't carry over; it resets when your next monthly bill is paid. Credits you add stay on your account while it's open.
- Your plan renews automatically each month until you cancel. There are no free trials.
- Extra storage is billed monthly as shown in Settings.
- If we change a plan's price, we'll email you at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then.
5. Changing or cancelling your plan
- Upgrades take effect right away: you're charged the difference for the rest of the month, and the extra usage and storage are added at once.
- Downgrades take effect on your next bill. A downgrade that wouldn't hold what you already store waits until you delete files or add storage.
- You can cancel at any time in Settings. Your plan keeps working until the end of the period you've paid for, and you won't be charged again. When it ends, your account and all its data are permanently deleted (section 12).
6. No refunds
Payments are not refundable, including partial months, unused usage and credits, and months you didn't use the service without cancelling, except where the law where you live requires a refund. If you think you were charged by mistake, email us and we'll look into it.
7. If a payment fails
If a payment fails, your account becomes read-only right away, until the payment goes through. You can still sign in, read everything and download your files, but your helper stops working. Your data is kept until the end of the period you already paid for, then for 7 more days, and then your account and all its data are permanently deleted. We email you when the payment fails, when those 7 days start, and 1 day before. Paying before then restores everything at once.
8. Your content
What you and your helper create in your account is yours: messages, files, notes, schedules and your helper's memory. You give us permission to store, process and transmit it only as needed to run 1Helm for you. We don't sell it, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't train AI models on it. Which AI providers may handle your requests follows the AI data privacy choice you make in Settings; our Privacy Policy explains who handles what.
Optional diagnostic access. If you separately enable Share diagnostic data in Advanced settings and confirm with the six-digit code sent to your account email, you authorize 1Helm to request filtered, already-retained account information to investigate problems. This can include records from before and after you enabled it. Access is read-only and restricted to 1Helm through an authenticated internal API; it does not authorize signing in as you or acting in your connected apps. It stays available until you turn it off, without a separate approval for each request. You also authorize 1Helm to evaluate that information using support and AI tools it chooses, including tools without zero data retention (non-ZDR). Your in-app AI data privacy choice does not apply to those tools. Their terms and practices govern retention and deletion, including any permitted use for model improvement or training. Turning sharing off stops subsequent reads but cannot recall information already returned or erase copies held by those tools. The scope, filtering limits and retention details are in Optional diagnostic access in the Privacy Policy. Enabling it does not guarantee anonymity or successful reproduction of an issue.
9. Your helper acts for you
Your helper takes actions on your behalf, using the accounts and permissions you give it. You're responsible for what you ask it to do and for actions it takes in accounts you've connected. It asks before anything that sends, posts, buys, deletes or changes something, and you can choose how often it checks with you in Settings. AI makes mistakes: check anything important before you rely on it, especially anything involving money, health, law or other people.
If you use Live notes or connect a recording device, you're responsible for telling the people you record and getting their consent where the law requires it.
10. Connected services and your own AI key
Some features work through other companies, and only if you choose to use them: apps you connect (through Composio, on our account or your own), texting (through your own Photon account), purchases (through Link, by Stripe), your Bee, and an AI service you connect with your own key. Your use of each is also governed by that company's terms. We're not responsible for their services, and you can disconnect them at any time. While your own AI key is in use, what the AI reads goes to that provider under its terms, and it bills you directly.
1Helm's instructions. To run your helper, 1Helm sends AI models content we wrote: system prompts, instructions, tool descriptions, documentation and similar material. That content belongs to 1Helm and is confidential, including when it goes to an AI service you connect with your own key. You may not copy, extract, capture, log for reuse, publish or sell it, or use it to build or train another product or AI model. Using your own AI key doesn't give you any rights to it, and if you break this rule we may pause or close your account.
11. Fair use
Don't use 1Helm, or ask your helper, to do anything illegal or harmful. That includes: sending spam or unwanted messages; harassing, threatening, impersonating or defrauding anyone; recording people without the consent the law requires; accessing accounts or systems you're not allowed to; spreading malware; mining cryptocurrency; sexual content involving minors; getting around usage limits or security; or reselling the service. We may pause or close accounts that do these things, and we'll tell you why unless the law or someone's safety prevents it.
12. Closing your account
You can delete your account in Settings at any time: your workspace is deleted right away and your plan is cancelled. When a plan ends after you cancel, or after a failed payment as described in section 7, your account and workspace data are permanently deleted. We don't keep a recoverable workspace copy. We keep billing records for as long as tax and accounting law requires. If you opted into diagnostic sharing, information already received by support or AI tools remains subject to those tools' terms and retention/deletion practices; account deletion does not by itself erase their copies.
We may close an account that breaks section 11, or if we stop offering 1Helm. If we stop the service, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice so you can download your files.
13. Keeping it running
We work hard to keep 1Helm available and your data safe, but we can't promise it will never be interrupted. We may improve, change or remove features over time. If a change materially reduces what your plan includes, we'll tell you in advance.
14. The website and security reports
Don't abuse 1helm.com or 1Helm: no attempts to disrupt them, and no probing beyond good-faith security research. Report security issues privately to support@1helm.com.
15. No warranty
1Helm, the website and the software are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, except where the law doesn't allow such warranties to be excluded.
16. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Joseph Yaksich will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including lost data, lost profits, or business interruption, arising from your use of 1Helm, the website or the software. For 1Helm, total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid for 1Helm in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, and the date above shows the latest version. For material changes, we'll email you at least 14 days before they apply. If you keep using 1Helm after that, you accept the new terms; if you don't want to, you can cancel.
18. The self-hosted software
1Helm publishes an open-source core you can run yourself. The core in releases beginning with v0.0.9 is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 only (AGPL-3.0-only); releases through v0.0.8 remain available under the MIT License.
The src/ee/, src/skills/ee/ and web/src/ee/ components are separately licensed under the 1Helm Cloud Features Source License. These components are governed by that separate license, not the core's AGPL license; consult it for permitted uses.
The applicable license that ships with each component governs it. The software comes with no warranty. If you run it yourself, you are its operator and responsible for your installation and your data.
