# Routines and Scheduled

> Ask once and your helper keeps doing it on a schedule. Plain words are enough. Everything scheduled is in one place.

Section: Using 1Helm

## Making a routine

Just ask the way you'd ask a person:

> Every Monday at 7, text me who booked this week and which classes still have seats.

Your helper confirms the schedule in plain words. Each run's result comes back to the task where you set it up.

## Checking, not watching

A watch ("tell me if the price drops under $300") checks at the times it's set to, like every 30 minutes. It stays quiet until there's news, and a quiet check costs very little. It can tell you something happened; it can't stop it from happening.

## When something happens

A routine can also start from an event in one of your apps instead of a clock: "when an email from Dana arrives, save a two-line summary to my notebook". See [When something happens](https://1helm.com/docs/apps/events/).

## The Scheduled view

Open **Scheduled** in the channel's side panel (on a phone, from the menu's tiles). It shows everything set to happen later, across all your channels:

- **Repeats:** routines and watches, with when they run next, **Pause**, **Resume** and **Stop**.
- **When something happens:** jobs that run when something happens in one of your apps, with the event in plain words and the account it watches. **Pause**, **Resume** and **Stop**.
- **Coming up:** one-time follow-ups your helper set, with **Cancel**.
- **Send later:** messages you scheduled, with edit time, send now and cancel.

You can also just say "pause the Monday summary" or "make it Tuesdays instead". Deleting the task or channel a routine belongs to deletes the routine too.

## Limits

- Runs happen around their time, not to the second. A routine checks at most every 15 minutes, or every minute with a quick check that wakes your helper only when there's news.
- With **Pause to check spending** on, a run that reaches a spending or progress limit stops with a short report; nobody is there to tap Keep going. Turning that setting off disables those spending pauses, not purchase approvals or the available-credit limit.
- After 6 failed runs in a row, a routine stops and is marked failed.
- A run is billed like any other work. A quick check that finds nothing costs no AI, just a little computer time.
