# Library

> Every file your helper makes, downloads or receives lands in the Library, ready to read, and you can share any of them with a link.

Section: Using 1Helm

## Finding files

The Library (`⌘` `⇧` `L`) opens to the current channel. Switch to **All channels** to see every channel as a folder, and use the chips (Documents, Spreadsheets, PDFs, Images, Links & code, Meetings) to narrow it down. Files you attach, files the browser downloads, files your helper saves from your apps (like a Gmail attachment), files you text it, and files it shares with you all land here. You can also add files yourself (Add file, or drag them in).

Pictures, PDFs, slide decks (slide by slide), Word documents, spreadsheets, video, audio, Markdown, CSV and text open in a preview. To give your helper a file that's already in the Library, pick it from **+** in the message box.

## Files are ready before you ask

As soon as a file lands, 1Helm prepares it in the background: documents, spreadsheets, slide decks and PDFs (scanned ones too) are turned into text, pictures get a description and any text in them, and recordings get a transcript. Long files also get a short summary card and an index.

- When you send a message with a file, a short one goes in whole, so your helper answers in one step without starting its computer. A long one goes as its card and outline, and your helper reads or searches the parts it needs.
- This prepared copy is kept, hidden, next to the file. It counts toward your storage and is deleted with the file.
- The work is billed like any other usage, at cost plus 15%.

## Changes update the same file

When you ask for changes to a file your helper already gave you, it updates that file instead of adding a copy: same name, same place in the Library, new version. Its share link gives the new version, and a page published from it updates at the same link. The version before the last change is kept, so "put the old one back" works. Want a separate copy? Just ask for one.

## Meeting notes

[Live notes](https://1helm.com/docs/ambient/live-notes/) are saved here, under the **Meetings** chip, in the channel of the task you took them in.

## Share a link

Open a file and choose **Share link**. Pick when it expires (never, 7 days or 30 days). Anyone with the link can view or download it without signing in. Copy it again or turn it off (Revoke) any time. Shared files show a **Shared** badge.

## Published pages

Your helper can build a web page and offer to publish it at your own address. Nothing goes public until you tap **Publish**. Any web page (.html) in the chat or the Library also has **Share file** and **Publish** side by side, so you can publish it yourself. Once it's live, its card shows the link with Copy, Open, Update and Unpublish. When your helper changes a published page, the live page updates at the same link and it tells you.

Published pages run apart from 1Helm and can't reach your account. Search engines are asked not to list pages or shared files.

## Storage

Each plan includes storage: Personal 100 GB, Plus 250 GB, Power 500 GB, Max 1 TB. Library files, each computer's saved work and published pages all count. **Settings → General** shows how much you've used, by kind, and you can add 100 GB for $2/month. You get one notice at 80%. If storage fills up, new files, uploads, published pages and computer saves can't be saved until you add storage or delete something. Reading and deleting always work, and nothing is ever deleted for you.
