# Plans and usage

> Every plan is a monthly price that includes usage. Each step up doubles the usage of the one before.

Section: Billing

## The plans

| Plan | Price | Usage included | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Personal | $30/mo | $20 | 100 GB |
| Plus | $50/mo | $40 | 250 GB |
| Power | $90/mo | $80 | 500 GB |
| Max | $170/mo | $160 | 1 TB |
| Use your own AI key | $10/mo | Credits you add | 100 GB |

Every plan is its usage plus $10. See [Use your own AI key](https://1helm.com/docs/billing/byok/) for the $10 plan, or to add your own key as a backup on any plan.

## What uses it

**The AI's work** (reading, thinking, writing) and **computer time** (by the second, while it's awake), both at what they cost us plus 15%. Dictation is billed the same way. Web searches are free (a backup search, when the usual one is busy, is billed like the AI's work). Texting has no extra charge, and a sleeping computer costs nothing.

## Seeing it

**Settings → General** shows your plan, how much of the month you've used, your balance and your storage. Turn on **Show estimated costs** there to see about what each task has cost (it's off by default). Included usage resets when your next monthly bill is paid.

## If you run low

With **Pause to check spending** on, you get one note at 50% and one at 80% of the month (and a text, if texting is set up), and costly, long or repetitive work can pause for your choice. Add credits any time in **Settings → General → Add credits** ($10, $25 or $50), or move up a plan. Turning spending pauses off allows work to use all available credits. See [spending controls](https://1helm.com/docs/working/#runaway-protection).

When the month's usage and your credits are both used up, work stops until you add credits or your plan renews. Nothing is lost, and nothing runs on credit: 1Helm never fronts costs you haven't covered.

## Daily safety limit

With **Pause to check spending** on, an account can spend at most half of what was added in the last 31 days in one day (never less than $15). It resets at midnight Pacific time. When it's hit, work pauses until then and scheduled runs are skipped. Turning spending pauses off also disables this daily cap; the available-credit limit and purchase approvals still apply.

## Changing plans

**Settings → General → Change plan**. Upgrades charge the difference now and add the extra usage and storage right away. Downgrades start on your next bill; one that wouldn't hold what you already store waits until you delete files or add storage. Plans are monthly only.

## Extra storage

Add 100 GB for $2/month with **Add storage** on the Storage card in **Settings → General**. Adding is charged now for the rest of the month; removing credits your next bill, down to what you already use. You get one notice at 80%. At 100%, new files can't be saved until you add storage or delete something; nothing is ever deleted for you.

## If a payment fails

Your 1Helm becomes **read-only right away**, until the payment is fixed. There's no grace period. You can still open the app, read everything and download your files, but your helper is paused: no new tasks, scheduled runs, helpers or texts, and no new month of usage is added. Tap **Fix payment** on the banner at the top of the app to update your card.

Your data is kept until the end of the period you already paid for. If the payment still isn't fixed by then, you have **7 more days**. After that, your account and all its data are **permanently deleted**, with no way to recover them. We email you when the payment fails, when those 7 days start, and 1 day before, each with the date.

Pay any time before then and everything works again at once. Nothing is deleted.
