# Ambient recall

> Turn saved Bee speech into source-backed tasks, ideas, memories and reminders without losing the original words.

Section: Live notes and Bee

> **Your words, with their sources.** Ambient recall helps you revisit saved Bee speech in General. Extraction can miss or misunderstand something: ask to see the original words, and check important tasks or dates. Capturing a reminder does not schedule a notification.

## A voice inbox, not just meeting summaries

Speak naturally into Bee throughout your day: a task, half an idea, a reminder, a preference, or a change of mind. A dedicated background extraction job works on synced speech and keeps source-backed tasks, reminders, ideas, facts, preferences and decisions. It does not require you to phrase everything as a command.

Candidate intentions receive a second, metered background review of the surrounding speech, with ambiguous results kept reviewable rather than presented as confirmed commitments.

The original saved transcript remains separate from the extracted records and ordinary memory summaries. Your helper can look up the speech itself if extraction missed something; an extracted item is not required to find its source. This is Bee support today, not an announcement that Plaid, Pocket or other ambient providers are connected.

## Ask naturally in General

- “What was I trying to get done today?”
- “Let's go over what I talked about on Bee.”
- “What was that idea I had earlier?”
- “Which things did I finish, cancel or change?”

You do not need to remember the right keyword or repeat the thought. The helper starts broadly when the subject is unclear, follows relevant pages for a requested complete list, and can inspect the original words when a detail is missing or disputed. It should answer from enough relevant evidence instead of searching unrelated archives indefinitely.

## Tasks, ideas and uncertain updates

Firm tasks belong apart from tentative ideas and unknown ownership. Each result keeps the captured words, speaker information and source time where available. A correction, completion or cancellation needs evidence connecting it to the earlier intention; similar appointments are not automatically the same appointment. If the link is unresolved, the helper should show an uncertain update rather than silently merge records or count both as confirmed commitments. Ask to see the source when it matters.

**Captured reminders are not scheduled notifications.** Saying “remind me tomorrow” can create a captured reminder, but nothing will fire unless a separate scheduling action confirms it. Unresolved dates stay unresolved. Background extraction never sends, buys, schedules or executes what was recorded; recorded speech and optional cues are not authorization.

## Optional attention phrases

**Settings → Ambient** lets you enable custom phrases such as “Hey helper-name” or “remember that.” You can save up to eight phrases, each up to 80 characters. They are off by default. A phrase is a soft relevance hint around nearby speech **before or after it**, including a thought followed by “remember that”; it is not a required wake word. Speech without a phrase is still processed.

The vicinity is bounded, not the whole recording. A quote, another speaker or an accidental phrase match does not prove who spoke or that an action was intended. Disable preserves your saved phrases; clear removes them. Settings apply to pending and newly processed speech, not an automatic paid reprocessing of all completed history.

## What was captured, and what is still missing

The helper checks processing coverage and freshness: saved sources, queued or failed extraction, live recordings and available dates. Finished processing means the saved material was processed, not that every recording in Bee has arrived. Disconnected acquisition can leave useful retained history without fresh recordings. An empty search never proves you said nothing.

Only data already synced into 1Helm is covered. Older recordings may need **Import past conversations**; processing retained transcripts does not reconnect Bee or acquire new recordings. Imports and extraction use normal metered usage, and background work can wait for credits or your own AI connection. There is no flat price for all-day recording.

## Where was I?

You can ask about a time, or the conversation where you discussed a topic. If you enabled 1Helm location sharing, it can use a saved device fix only when its timestamp is relevant. **1Helm keeps only the latest device fix, not a location history.** Today's fix is not proof of where you were yesterday.

Bee may provide a location associated with a conversation, even without useful transcript text. That can help fill a gap, but it is not proof that you stayed there for a whole long recording. A provider's creation time is not necessarily an observed GPS time. The helper should distinguish sources and approximate timing, mention disagreements, and never infer your whereabouts merely from a place mentioned in speech.

## Privacy and control

Ambient recall belongs to General; project channels and background subhelpers do not gain access. Personal-memory settings and requests to forget are respected during extraction and recall. Location permission remains separate. Disconnecting Bee offers keep or remove; keeping lets retained history remain useful, removing deletes the imported Bee material. These controls do not delete the source in Bee itself. Follow the [Bee disconnection steps](https://1helm.com/docs/ambient/bee/#disconnect) to remove its access too.
